North Carolina State Capitol
A National Historic Landmark, the North Carolina State Capitol is a prime example of Greek Revival architecture. With its restored domed rotunda and the original state Senate and House chambers, the Capitol stands as a symbol of North Carolina's history. It served as the seat of state government until 1888, and the NC General Assembly met here until 1961. Self-guided tours are available Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Public guided tours occur on Saturdays at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Group tours can be arranged by calling Capital Area Visitor Services.
