The Pope House Museum, built in 1901 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was the home of Dr. M.T. Pope, one of Raleigh’s prominent African-American citizens and one of North Carolina’s first Black licensed doctors. Open for tours, the museum offers insight into the life and legacy of the Pope family and their significant impact on the community.
